Melinda Bellatti received her B.S. in Speech/Theatre Education from Oklahoma State University where she was named a Top Ten Senior and her M.S. in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas. Melinda believes in the power of theatre to not only entertain but also to educate and inspire. She is thrilled to serve as Executive Director for Children’s Musical Theatre of Bartlesville and for the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of artists and volunteers who share her passion for arts education. Melinda is a member of Leadership Bartlesville Class XXVII, serves on the Arts Encounter steering committee, volunteers as Public Relations Adviser for the University of Tulsa Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter, and is co-chair of 2017 One Book, One Bartlesville initiative. Melinda recently moved home to Oklahoma after living 28 years in Texas where she served as Managing Director for Frisco Youth Theatre and as an Adjunct Professor of Communication at the University of Texas at Dallas and Collin College. She taught speech, drama, and debate in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, Plano ISD, and several home school organizations. She has been honored as Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year Runner-Up. Melinda feels like she has been preparing to serve CMT for literally all of her life because some of her earliest memories are being at late night play rehearsals with her mother, who taught speech and theater for 30 years in northeastern Oklahoma. Through performing in plays and musicals and competing in speech and debate tournaments to the state championship and national levels in high school, Melinda realized the value of the skills that are gained from these activities--skills like creativity, critical thinking, self-confidence, and teamwork. She pursued speech/theatre education in order to share these valuable life skills with others. Melinda is married to her high school sweetheart, Chuck, and has two grown children, Lauren and Nate.
