About the Program
The capstone of CMT’s programming is the Main-stage Summer Musical: a five-week musical theatre intensive during which students ages 7-17 learn how to put on a full-scale Broadway musical complete with elaborate sets, period-costumes, intricate lighting design, and a live orchestra. Typically, each production casts 65-85 students who live within a 40-mile radius of Bartlesville, OK.
Each year, CMT hires different artistic staff from theatres across the US who have garnered national exposure to serve as directors, music directors, and choreographers for the Main-stage Summer Musical. These industry professionals provide a high-quality educational experience for cast members while exposing them to different directors, a variety of directing styles, and ensure fair and unbiased casting.

Auditions are hosted early in the calendar year. Rehearsals begin in June and the musical is produced at the Bartlesville Community Center in July. CMT alumni also return to support artistic staff and assist with the intensive. By giving back to our community through their own leadership, expertise, and personal experience, our alumni help further our legacy and create a close-knit community.
About the Production
Community involvement is a key character in the production of our Main-stage Summer Musical. From the hundreds of volunteers who devote their time to the local corporations who donate financial resources, the community of Bartlesville and the surrounding areas help make the show a success as our students perform for audiences of up to 4,000 people each year.
CMT’s Main-stage Summer Musical offers local students a place to hone their performance skills and grow in teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, public speaking, and self-confidence while learning from professional directors and choreographers. These skills are proven to benefit young adults on and offstage. However, the diverse onstage role experience that students can include on resumes and college entry and scholarship applications can also propel a career in the arts. To date, 43 CMT alumni are actively involved in arts professions as music educators, touring and Broadway company performers, church musicians/worship leaders, members of regional performance groups, as well as editors, light and sound technicians, and programmers in film production on the west coast.
